I have a big interview tomorrow for a third grade teaching position in a small school near my hometown. I am excited, but also nervous as it is my first interview! Does anyone have any tips or sample questions/answers? How would you answer the question about what your weaknesses are? Thanks so much for your help!! :)
I think the most important thing is to just be yourself. If you try to be someone you are not, then that will come through and make you look silly. Also, be honest. No one like to hear "I don’t know" when it comes to questions, but if they ask you a hypothetical and you honestly don’t know what you would do, then say it. This actually happened to me and all I could tell my interviewers was that I would seek the advice of my fellow teachers for help or improvement in that situation. I wanted them to know (and I think I said this) that I knew I had a lot to learn, but I was willing to go the extra mile to do so.

The answer to the weakness question changed for me after I had been teaching for 3 yrs. and moved to another system. I think in the beginning I mentioned that my lack of experience was a weakness, but it was something that I could overcome with time.

Be prepared to answer questions about classroom management; the importance of getting along with colleagues; the importance of parental contact; why they should hire YOU; what a typical day in your class is/would be like; why you want to teach at that specific school.

Remember, you really have to sell youself. If you don’t have confidence in yourself and act like you are the woman for the job, then they won’t they won’t think twice about you.

I have an interview with Merrill Lynch for a finance internship position tomorrow, and I wanted to see if anyone can provide me suggestions on what to expect on this interview. Also, this is a group interview which is completely new to me. I have already researched about the company on their website and thought up some questions to ask the interviewer. Please let me know what else I should do to prepare for this interview so that I can have a good chance of being selected!

First you might want to learn how to spell the company name, then do your research as to what, when they started, etc

I have an interview with a federal employer next week. Where can I go for some good mock interview questions?

I just had an interview today, and it wasn’t for a federal job, but I’ve been in a lot of interviews, and there are just some questions that keep popping up in one form or another. I’ll try to remember as many as I can:

Why do you want to work here?

What in your experience qualifies you to work here?

What are your strengths/weaknesses?

What would old supervisors and coworkers say about you?(positive and negative)

What have you done to show you can work outside of the box?

Tell us about a time when you have solved a problem/conflict with coworker?

What do you do to create a good work environment?

What do you do in stressful situations/deadlines?

Other than that, the questions will probably be job specific. This particular interview asked me about my communication and mentoring skills.

Anyway, good luck. Dress a half step up from what you would normally expect to wear at this job. Take a few deep breaths. Good luck. I hope you get it.

What are some good tips on interviewing for a job? What will make me stand out!

My best advice is to impress them with your knowledge of their company.Do as much research as you can and let them know what makes you want to work with them and what you like about how they maintain such good business and such.Other than that, let them know you are a team player and love to the feeling at the end of a hard days work.Good luck :)

I would like to know the steps that a person would take to prepare for an interview for a management position at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Or is every interview for a management position the same? Please can anyone help?? Thanks!

Excellent question. Steps to take are:

1) dress professionally
2) know the company, do research online. Know the CEO, headquarters, number of stores, their philosophy, etc.
3) know the answers to the usual questions, such as why Walmart, what do you bring to the table, have you handled money before, explain what have you done to difuse past negative situations with customers
4) bring a few resumes with you. If you have any personal recommendations(past employers, priest, family friend, business associate), bring copies
5) smile, keep eye-to-eye contact, sit up straight, shake hands like you mean it, know what you are talking about

If you excel in these 5 things, the odds are you will get the job over the next guy.

I’m doing an english project and basically I just need some interview questions about obesity.

1. Please explain the nature v. nurture connection to obesity.

2. Which of these is more likely to be the cause of childhood obesity: DNA, poor diet and nutrition, or the lack of exercise?

3. If my mother or father is obese, does this mean that I will also become obese later on?

4. Is there a connection between obesity and other diseases?

5. What would be the value of an obese person finding the right group of people to spend time with, so they won’t feel ashamed of their weight, while they get help to change their situation?

6. Do obese people live shorter lives, or just less healthy lives?

7. Does long term obesity change the DNA that I pass on to my offspring? (This applies to both Mom and Dad.)

8. How does our nation’s obesity problem impact the economy?

9. Is there a connection between obesity and depression, or other psychological problems?

10. How does a person’s obesity impact the health and wellness of a family member who is anxious about the health of their loved one?
